Fred L. Zwoyer, Sr.

 

Fred L. Zwoyer, Sr., 91 of Spring City, and formerly of East Greenville and Morris, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 22016 at the Southeastern Veteran’s Center in Spring City.  He was the husband of the late Gloria F. (Heffentrager) Zwoyer.

Born in East Greenville, PA, he was a son of the late Ivy and Marion (Moll) Zwoyer.

Fred worked as a processor of rare metals for Global Metals in Boyertown for 30 years retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he worked for Arno Krauss Excavating.

Fred served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member and Commander of the VFW Post 4907 in Wellsboro.

Surviving are three sons, Fred Zwoyer, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Douglassville, Eric Zwoyer, of Sassamansville and Travis Zwoyer and wife, Theresa, of Boyertown; three sisters, June Boehner, Mary Lou Lutter, and Nancy Dodge, all of Lansdale; four grandchildren, Travis, Jr., Tiffany, Christopher and Sean; six great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Stephanie Lee Zwoyer and Crystal A. Zwoyer and a half brother, Harold Zwoyer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10am to 11 am at the church. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
