RAYMOND L. HOOVER (1926 - 2016)

Obituary

 

Raymond L. Hoover, 90, of Wellsboro, passed away, Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. 
He was born Feb. 11, 1926, in New York City, N.Y., the son of the late Zenus Leslie and Lida (Mc Connel) Hoover. 
Raymond was a graduate of Montoursville High School. He was a United States 
Army veteran, having served during World War II as a paratrooper with the 111th Airborne Division. He was trained as a medic. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie A. Hoover, on Sept. 13, 1989.
Raymond was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellsboro. In addition he served on the Board of Trustees for Old Immanuel Lutheran Church, a historic Lutheran Church near Pennsdale, Lycoming County. He was a Mason and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He retired from the PA Fish Commission, Harrisburg; having served Tioga County from July 1964 – December 1991.
Surviving are his daughter, Holly L. Hoover of Wellsboro; his son, Thomas D. Hoover of Hot Springs, Va. and his brother, Herbert Hoover of Big Flats, NY.
Friends and family are invited to Raymond's Life Celebration on Monday, June 20, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Service will follow at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Peter DeVantier officiating. Interment will be in Old Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Pennsdale.
