Jack G. Howe, age 86, of Tioga, PA, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Jack was born on November 14, 1920 in Ovid, NY, a son of Elmer and Rebecca (Hunsinger) Howe. He was owner and operator of Howes Contracting-Excavating. He was a U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran of World War II. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #0154, Elmira Heights, NY; V.F.W. Post #4907, Wellsboro, PA; the Army/Air Force Aid Society; a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Tioga, PA; attended the First Baptist Church, Tioga, PA; he enjoyed dancing, people, and was a good cook.
Jack is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James G. Howe and Sue Cook of Tioga, PA, Jay M. and Cynthia Howe of Tioga, PA; a daughter, Jacquelyn M. Boyce and Don Wescott of Lindley, NY; six grandchildren, Jami (Terry) Smith, Jessica Boyce, Jeremiah, Jacob, Jehanna, and Jonah Howe; a brother, Donald (Eunice) Howe of Dry Fork, VA; a sister-in-law, Margaret Howe of Tioga, PA; a step great grandchild, Clifton (Clarissa) Smith; a step great great grandchild, Skylar Rose Smith; several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Marie (Grinnell) Howe on April 28, 1990, and a brother, Kenneth Howe.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Shypulefski officiating.
